Turning the City Upside Down
In a recent interview on TBN, when asked to address ecclesiastical complacency and the church’s slow and steady slide toward political correctness at the expense of the Gospel, Pastor Leigh stated that, “The Gospel provokes.” As far back as the first century we see jealous religious rioters storming a citizen’s private home, dragging him into the street and then proceeding to accuse him and his partners in crime, the Apostle Paul and Silas, of “Turning the city upside down!”

You see, the Gospel, when properly presented, will either provoke its hearers to anger or to change. The Hope Center is committed to positive change. We have dedicated our ministry and all our resources toward turning our city upside down and positively impacting it for Christ, something we have been doing for almost a decade. Through our 2006-07 “Turning Our City Upside Down” campaign we will train hundreds of other churches and ministry leaders in the greater New York City metroplex area to do the same. It is the job of the Church to challenge society and promote revolutionary change in our neighborhoods, our schools and our government.

To this end, we are in the process of building a state of the art non-profit Art Center in Jersey City. Though the financial burden is great, the anticipated impact on the greater NYC area is indescribable! It is our hope that you will join with us in this effort to impact the most visible city in the world for God’s glory.

A Little on Hope Center Tabernacle
Ministry is not so much about instruction as it is about impartation. At the Hope Center Tabernacle, we believe that our own very deep love affair with Christ is expressed in our worship and is transferred onto the local body. This transference culminates in an ambiance saturated with Christ’s love and intense, beautifully painful worship. The average worshiper is, as Isaiah would say, “undone” in every service as he personally meets with God.

The Hope Center Tabernacle is a ministry that strives to develop people that have a character that reflects Jesus Christ. Holiness, faithfulness and loving attitudes are modeled and taught through discipleship classes, bible studies and mentoring relationships.

We are a tribe of creative people. Based on a solid biblical foundation, the people and ministries within the Hope Center are constantly inventing and reinventing ways to reach this increasingly visual and auditory world for Christ.

Through compelling teaching and preaching, partnered with a powerful worship arts ministry, we endeavor to reach our region and this world with a true, full presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
